We have been installing temperature control equipment in computer and server rooms since the early IBM mainframes. The mainframes required very close temperature control (+/- 1deg C) and very close humidity control. The modern server racks while not being quite as demanding do present their own problems. Each server rack can produce between 7 and 11kW of heat, in the sealed environment of the server room the temperature can become dangerously high. We size and position the cooling system to pull hot discharged air away from the back of the servers and supply clean dry chilled air to the front of the servers creating a continuous circulation.

This type of installation requires a vertical clearance of at least 60cm above the suspended ceiling. Hot air from the back of the server racks is drawn through the ducted cooling unit and the cooled air is blown down the front of the server racks.
